Mayo spoke to espn.com late last night using the same phone that the story alleges Guillory provided for him. Local apparel salesemen claim to have had Mayo and Guillory's phone numbers programmed. And in December, Mayo received an anonymous tip regarding Guillory's credit card and called a meeting with Guillory and Johnson in Venice Beach out of fear. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3389049

According to a portion of Naqi's chat that Wolf posted, she says Guillory's involvement with Trepagnier and Mayo's unorthodox recruitment were red flags for the basketball program. On that basis, why didn't ESPN's investigation begin earlier? Did Naqi get a tip in January? Did someone at ESPN spot something fishy during their coverage of Trojan games in Nov.-Dec.? Or did the Carmelo ticket controversy, which occurred in January, jumpstart the story? What's weird to me is that the ESPN story relies so heavily on Louis Johnson's claims, yet it says that he didn't have a falling out with Guillory until March. So what did ESPN have to go on in January? According to a portion of Naqi's chat posted on wearesc.com, she had to negotiate with Johnson to do the story. I'm just curious what ESPN had before Johnson talked for them.
