I will wait to see if Mayo did anything outside of the rules for which USC is culpable. Even the "star" and only witness in this allegation states he does not believe USC was aware of any wrongdoing. And Mayo may have played within the rules and still received benefits just like many other college athletes; from all indications Mayo is quite bright and would conduct himself within what he perceived to be acceptable behavior to keep himself eligible. NCAA rules for gifts and assistance are not so straight forward as some would think. Let's wait until this is thoroughly investigated rather than assuming guilt. I won't hide my head in the sand if it turns out Mayo and/or the university are guilty of any infractions, but I'm not going to condemn him solely on the word of a man who has a VERY strong vendetta; wait until all the facts are separated from hearsay and fiction.
