Can't wait for all the fairweather fans to post and whine about how the coaching staff should be fired, how we have no talent, no game plan, etc. How about
UCLA is damn good and we had a bad night? Those nights happen. Do you expect to win when Taj and Hackett combine for 4 pts and you have 24 turnovers? Or when
Dragovic looks like Reggie Miller from 25 ft 4 times? Most of the turnovers were poor concentration. Our spirit was broken was we got down in the 1st half but
came out and outscored them by 7 in the 2nd half. We have a full week to concentrate on next week's games. Get over it, we're 15-7 and lost to a good
team. The team will work hard the next week and be ready for the weekend.

plus it would be nice to have the full complement of players. marcus johnson can slash and would've helped on both ends.

Agree. It seems like Leonard would have helped out if he were in sooner, because at least he's willing to drive to the basket. Is he still not completely
well?

but neither he nor anyone else less than 25 feet from the basket could get the ball in the first half. UCLA looked like they had 8 players on defense;
everywhere you looked, it seemed like someone was double-teamed. SC's lake of ball-handling skill just magnified the problem. They looked content to have
Lewis and Hackett pass it back and forth at the half court line.

Sort of like us in Football on defense and Ucla on offense. I think that's a great analogy

This team has issues on offense regardless of the current injuries. The scheme used left much to be desired. Hackett is a nice basketball player, but there is
simply an absence of great ball handlers and quick guards who can penetrate and dish. And here's a newsflash. There is NO VISIBLE HELP on the way for next
season, either. Guard play is crucial and against teams that have speed and good ball handlers, the current group of SC guards is often in deep. That is no
flame, that is what is.
Here's a question. Who is responsible for the current lack of quick, athletic guards? MJD |

yea great lets sign another swing man.
my three key players of the game were: Taj-two points and an injury. they double teamed him immediately and that pretty much ended our inside game. our Nikola-not terrible but no statistical match for their Nikola MJ-couldn't even play |

If Vucevic can consistently hit those 12-15 footers, he can make his defender pay for leaving him to double Taj. Right now, it doesn't look like Vucevic
has the green light to shoot. I'd love to see him more involved in the offense, especially on nights when Dwight isn't hitting his outside shots.

a waste of blood in Lousiana who killed Ryan Francis. Also Angelo Johnson because he is afraid of competition. We also appeared to have Overton locked up
until he decided he did not want to play behind Francis for 2-3 years.
I will be mocked and laughed at, but I think Donte Smith showed he is quick. Not sure how you want to define athletic, so I'll leave that alone. His problem is he is still playing out of control, but he at least tried to penetrate last night and did so on a number of occasions. But being out of control, he either lost control of the ball, made a bad pass, or charged into someone. And yes, he shot at least 2 airballs from 3 point land. If, and it is a big if, during the offseason, he can learn to stay under control and work on his footwork for his jump shot, he will be a large asset next season. I have not given up on him. And the reason I am leaving the "athletic" definition alone is this. He seems to have the foot speed, quickness, and hops. He is not a super phyiscal guard though. Hard to tell how athletic he is when he is always out of control. |

On that last airball, Donte was drifting way to his left and away from the basket when he took that shot. Only Kobe can hit fade-aways from that distance. He was open on that play. Clean up the footwork so that he's jump up and towards the basket, instead of back and sideways, and that shot would at least have been close. |

I've heard others here say he's too slow to run the point but he blew past Collison more than once. The problem, as you noted, is what happens after
that. If he ever starts to feel the game (yes BIG if), he'll help us some. Probably won't happen this year so let's hope he stays in the program
and the light turns on next year.

I have no reason to hope for anything but the best. So far, his season has not been successful. Since not much help is coming down the pike next season at the
point, I will continue to hope for the best. MJD

Gerrity will be the X factor for next season. Yes, Gerrity will surprise all of you. U heard it here first. The kid can drive and create and has the experience
against bigtime teams
e.g. uconn in which he went for 19. Remember Donte has never played D-1 basketball, Gerrity has played for two plus years. I look for Gerrity to be exactly what we need. Driving and creating easy dunks for Alex and Taj or open shots for Lewis and Hackett Starting line for next year: Gerrity, Hackett, Lewis, ALex and Taj Demar will probably leave because the nba is about potential and not what you can |
