I was struck by the dropoff in attendance from Sunday to Thursday. 6,235 for a Top 20 team. That's the lowest figure for a Pac-10 game at Galen since ASU
visited in Jan. '07. Last year's ASU game drew 9,563. 8,721 was the lowest figure for a Pac-10 game at Galen last year.
On Sunday, I had two UCLA guys directly in front of me, and a small group making some noise a couple rows back, but otherwise, I was surrounded by SC fans. Unfortunately, on a night when students were turned away, there were four empty seats to my right for the whole game.
However, on Thursday, there was a smattering of ASU fans everywhere around me. Perhaps they were fans who upgraded because of all the empty seats. Luckily, the ASU guy sitting directly next to me was a pleasant fellow who was not very vocal and even acknowledged when SC did good things.
I was really annoyed with the Arizona fans last year, so I'm curious about the turnout tonight and the U of A presence.
