of having Mayo and Jefferson come on board because of what happened with Young and Pruitt. Their main focus was making sure that the kids went to class and
finished school.

I will wait to see if Mayo did anything outside of the rules for which USC is culpable. Even the "star" and only witness in this allegation states
he does not believe USC was aware of any wrongdoing. And Mayo may have played within the rules and still received benefits just like many other college
athletes; from all indications Mayo is quite bright and would conduct himself within what he perceived to be acceptable behavior to keep himself eligible.
NCAA rules for gifts and assistance are not so straight forward as some would think. Let's wait until this is thoroughly investigated rather than assuming
guilt. I won't hide my head in the sand if it turns out Mayo and/or the university are guilty of any infractions, but I'm not going to condemn him
solely on the word of a man who has a VERY strong vendetta; wait until all the facts are separated from hearsay and fiction.

The ramifications of this situation and the Bush situation are going to rattle the athletic department to the bone no matter what. Academically, Sample has
put this school into another universe over the last 17 years, and this kind of stuff won't go unnoticed. As much as I love USC athletics, they are only
one aspect of the University's overall mission to educate young minds and groom tomorrows leaders. Even being associated (justly or unjustly) with this
type of activity hinders the university's ability to reach it's goals.
There will be changes made because of this situation.........you are kidding yourself if you think it won't. |

it just shows how poorly the NCAA investigated the situation before they cleared him to play at SC. Still, this was not something our school needed, especially seeing as we will lose a ton of players next year, and will need a great recruiting class. |

Honestly the NCAA doesnt know how to handle "agents".... | #18 | ||
|
Just think of Sonny Vacaro and his immense continuous influence on recruits. Even last year he steered Kevin Love towards UCLA according to some. When UCLA
had that Deshaun Foster driving a new car (from an agent) they kept Deshaun out of three games, not the NCAA.
I think this new aspect of top freshmen going to college for one year will exacerbate the problems with Agents , I doubt that Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, Kevin Love , Jerryd Bayless and others have not been contacted by agents and scouts this year. I also doubt that OJ Mayo would go out of his way to disgrace the team and school he himself selected. |
