There is no doubt in my mind that the Big East was the best college basketball conference in the nation this year and they proved it in the NCAA plyaoffs. 7 of its teams made the NCAA could and with the exception of West Virginia six went on to the next round. With Marquettes loss, 5 went to the sweet 16. Four of them made it to the elite 8 where Pitt was beaten, by fellow Big East team VIllanova by 2, and Louisville was beaten. UConn and Villanova were beaten in the final 4. As a conference they were 17-7 (.708) versus the top 64 teams in the USA.
Jamie would bring good solid coaching and new life to USC, and make the rivalry with UCLA very interesting.
