When Floyd was in Arizona, Reggie Theus and Lon Kruger were apparently on the top of the heap if Jaime Dixon was not interested. Kruger is probably the better
coach but Theus is a good recruiter and probably would generate some excitement hear in LA and speed up the rebuilding process. Not sure who else the athletic
department has in mind but I think we will find out soon, maybe by the end of the week. Apparently, this has been brewing for a while now.

Supposedly the school found out when the public did, so I doubt any efforts have been made to find a replacement.
I know there is a short list of candidates, but since it is now June, we are not going to get any of the top guys. My guess is there preference is Jamie Dixon, but he is not leaving Pitt in June and I think he may have just signed an extension. I'm sure they would love Mark Few, but again, can't see him leaving in June. My guess is it would be hard to pry any "big name" coach away at this date. Which would lead me to think they might either go some combination of Arnold and/or Cantu as interim for a year (which sort of worked last time), or maybe they will try to talk Westphal into a one year deal...he always seems to get run, but I don't think he is the long term answer. So I am thinking a short term fix for next year and then a big push for "their guy" next year. I guess we will see. Coach search aside, big thanks to Coach Floyd for a great run and a lot of fun times for USC Basketball. Good luck to him in the next phase of his career/life. |

I usually don't take departures personally, whether it's players or coaches. But in this case, I hope nothing but the worst for Floyd. I think he's
done for good. Who the hell would want to hire a guy like him now? He wouldn't even be able to volunteer for his local high school team now! How 1 guy can
essentially take down a program on his own is beyond comprehension. All within just a few years no less. The sickest thing is that, he not only ruined the
bball program, but his actions could have implications on football and the entire athletic department!
Who's next? Gotta start from the ground up. I mean who, with any sort of decent track record, would want to come in to clean up this f'ing mess? I say move Coop over from the other locker room and see if he can build something.

The way our luck has been going, no way we could still get Jamie Dixon.
But if it was, no one would be happier! He is the perfect guy to lead our program and I have been pushing for it since before we hired Majerus. |

I think it's important to remember that Floyd can be completely innocent of all accusations, yet the accusations were so damaging, that he had no choice to
resign. He may have even been pressured to resign. Does anyone really think he could have effectively done his job at this point? His reputation has been
tarnished, innocent or guilty. He'll never coach again.
USC stood by and let Yahoo and a convicted felon in Louis Johnson, basically take down our basketball program, and ruin a decent man's career. Thanks Mike Garrett. |

If a really good coach is somehow available, go for it. If not, hire an interim coach until a good coach can be hired for the next season.

We'll have someone in place soon and a head coach by mid-semester next year. Can't wait to see the concert schedule at Galen in the Fall.
