Last night Floyd was talking about the roster and said that it looks like it will be a lineup of:
PG- Mike Gerritty (he said we're working on a few other things here too)
SG- Dwight
SF- Derrick Williams
PF- Nikola V.
C- Stepheson
IMO... This is unreal. If Momo doesn't come (which sounds like it is very possible he won't) and Donte doesn't come back, we're honestly looking at Romeo or Marcus Simmons possibly being our PG. Not sure what scares me more, Romeo starting for the 1st semester or Marcus Simmons handling the ball.
Floyd sounds REALLY high on Nikola V. Said that this kid has the potential to be GREAT not good. He brought in an old coach from Chico State (Puck was his name) in the off-season to teach Nikola the sweeping hook shot.
Coach had just learned yesterday about Marcus Johnson. Said that after working so hard to get him eligible, that Marcus came in his office and told him he was going pro. Coach sounded VERY shocked by this. Even he was curious as to how a guy who avg'd 3pts & 2 rbds a game thinks he should go pro.
Tim also indicated that Taj is doing very well in his pro workouts and he made it sound like he'd be very surprised if he returned.
Overall, Floyd hammered home the point that unless you are a 1st rounder it doesn't make sense to sign w/ an agent. There isn't guaranteed $$$ in the 2nd round and lots of these guys who don't make it could use a degree to fall back on.
Floyd did say that Leonard Washington had offers from all SEC schools for football in HS. Said he was the top DE in the state and that Tim & Pete have talked a lot about him. Floyd said he expects LW to give FB a shot at SC at some point. Leonard is undersized for a PF and that he could make a lot more $$$ playing football.
